Within the framework of supporting government efforts to develop the capabilities of the Department of Statistics in the field of national accounts, the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Mr. Nasser Shraideh, and the President of the ABJ, Mr. Bassem Khalil Al-Salem, signed a memorandum of understanding. According to the MoU, the Department will implement a project in cooperation with the Association to improve the quality and comprehensiveness of the outputs statistics related to the banking sector within the framework of the national accounts compilation system.
According to the MoU, the department will carry out specialized surveys to improve the quality of data related to the banking sector in accordance with the best international standards.
The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation confirmed that the department will provide the ABJ with the necessary information and data and cooperate with it in improving the quality, comprehensiveness and contribution of the banking sector to the national accounts in line with the applicable legislation and with the aim of keeping abreast of economic developments and changes.
Minister Shraideh said that the project to support the system for collecting national accounts statistics in Jordan, which was adopted by the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, will work to provide its statistical data needs for users of this data, including the private sector and in accordance with the latest international methodologies and recommendations issued by the United Nations and other international organizations.
For his part, Al-Salem stressed the importance of cooperation between the ABJ and the Department of Statistics to provide a comprehensive and consistent statistical database that meets the needs of the banking sector and gives a clear and comprehensive idea of the contribution of the banking sector in all economic aspects.
