The Association of Banks in Jordan organized a specialized training program titled “Impact 360™” during the period from 19 to 23 October 2025. The program addressed disclosure and sustainability in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards and the International Sustainability Standards Board (IFRS S1 and IFRS S2) standards, with a total of 30 training hours.

Dr. Maher Al-Mahrouq, Director General of the Association of Banks, inaugurated the program, welcoming the participants and commending the strong participation from representatives of the banking sector. He emphasized the importance of building banking capacities and competencies in the fields of sustainability and responsible disclosure in line with international best practices.

Dr. Al-Mahrouq explained that the Association places significant importance on banking sustainability and responsible disclosure, which help avoid “greenwashing” risks and support the identification of sustainability elements and tools in banks. He noted that such programs not only enhance the performance of the sector, but also contribute to strengthening the professional pathways and individual expertise of those working in the banking field.

The program was delivered by sustainability expert Dr. Waseem Hoeneini, who stated in his opening remarks that Jordan is considered one of the leading countries in promoting sustainability, especially within the banking sector. He emphasized that the application of GRI and IFRS S1/S2 standards enhances the ability of Jordanian banks to attract green investments and expand sustainable financing across various economic sectors, contributing to the transition toward a green and sustainable economy.

The program covered several specialized topics, including the foundations of report preparation according to GRI standards, the requirements of IFRS S1 and IFRS S2, methodologies for calculating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and aligning institutional objectives with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

A distinguished group of employees from various Jordanian banks participated in the program. They expressed their appreciation for the Association’s role in organizing high-quality training programs that enhance the efficiency of banking professionals and enable them to correctly apply disclosure and sustainability standards. They affirmed that such programs strengthen knowledge exchange and provide a platform for sharing technical expertise among sector professionals.
