The Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability Committee was established by the Association of Banks in Jordan (ABJ) in 2023, pursuant to the directives of the Association’s Board of Directors. The Committee was established to provide an institutional framework that brings together member banks to coordinate and collaborate in the areas of corporate social responsibility and sustainability.
The Committee serves as a platform for aligning and directing joint efforts and initiatives in line with national priorities and visions, while enhancing the developmental and social impact of the banking sector’s contributions.
Overall Objective
To strengthen the role of the Jordanian banking sector in corporate social responsibility and sustainability, and to direct banks’ efforts and contributions towards national priorities and areas with sustainable impact, thereby maximizing the economic, social, and developmental value of the initiatives undertaken by the sector.
Key Objectives
- Promote corporate social responsibility and sustainability practices among member banks and strengthen the role of the banking sector in these areas.
- Align corporate social responsibility initiatives with national priorities and visions, ensuring that resources are directed towards the most important areas and sectors.
- Maximize the social and developmental impact of banks’ contributions and initiatives by moving from fragmented initiatives towards more coordinated and impactful efforts.
