The Jordan Securities Commission (JSC) and the Association of Banks in Jordan (ABJ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today at the Commission’s headquarters, with the aim of strengthening frameworks for cooperation and coordination and developing areas of mutual interest, in line with the legislation, regulations, and instructions governing the work of both parties.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Mr. Imad Abu Haltam, Chairman of the Jordan Securities Commission, and Dr. Maher Al-Mahrouq, Director General of the Association of Banks in Jordan, in the presence of members of the Commission’s Board of Commissioners.
The MoU reflects the two parties’ commitment to strengthening institutional cooperation, promoting the exchange of expertise, knowledge, and information, and leveraging the capabilities and experience available to both sides. These efforts are intended to support the development of Jordan’s financial sector and enhance the efficiency of financial markets and the broader operating environment related to them.
The two parties also agreed to strengthen cooperation in conducting joint studies and research projects that are aligned with the objectives and mandates of the Commission and the Association, in a manner that supports the further development of the financial sector.
The MoU also provides for cooperation in the preparation and organization of periodic training programs, lectures, and events aimed at stakeholders across the financial sector in general and financial markets in particular. These activities are intended to address the sector’s current and future needs and raise awareness and understanding of relevant practices and developments.
In the area of human-resource development, the two parties agreed to cooperate in organizing training programs designed to qualify and develop their respective staff, in accordance with current and future training needs and priorities.
The MoU further provides for strengthening technical and professional cooperation between specialists from both parties, exchanging relevant expertise and practices, and cooperating in the provision and exchange of consultations and technical expertise, upon request, concerning the review and assessment of legislation and policies governing the work of the two institutions. This cooperation is intended to contribute to the development of related regulatory frameworks.
The Memorandum of Understanding establishes an institutional framework for ongoing cooperation between the Jordan Securities Commission and the Association of Banks in Jordan, strengthening channels of communication, coordination, and knowledge and expertise exchange. It also supports joint efforts to develop Jordan’s financial sector and financial markets in line with leading practices and developments in the financial sector at both the local and international levels.
