The Association of Banks in Jordan (ABJ) hosted H.E. Mr. James Ngango, Ambassador of the Republic of Rwanda to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, together with a delegation from the Embassy, during an official visit aimed at exploring ways to strengthen financial and banking cooperation and identifying opportunities to build partnerships between the Jordanian and Rwandan banking sectors.
During the meeting, the Rwandan Ambassador highlighted the importance of building strong partnerships with the Association of Banks in Jordan. He also pointed to opportunities to connect the Association and the Jordanian banking sector with the Kigali International Financial Centre, with a view to broadening investment cooperation, exchanging financial and banking expertise and experience, and opening new channels for growth and economic exchange.
For his part, Dr. Maher Al-Mahrouq, Director General of the Association of Banks in Jordan, welcomed the Ambassador and commended the notable economic progress achieved by the Republic of Rwanda in recent years, which has strengthened its position as a promising and attractive investment destination at both the regional and international levels.
Dr. Al-Mahrouq also highlighted the institutional expertise and capabilities of Jordan’s banking sector in providing financial services and financing economic activities, noting that these strengths create meaningful opportunities for knowledge exchange and for developing cooperation with the Rwandan side.
He emphasized the Association’s commitment to continuing to build reliable and sustainable partnerships with Rwandan financial and banking institutions in a way that leverages the competitive advantages of both countries and serves their shared interests.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides stressed the importance of maintaining communication and coordination and exploring the possibility of holding joint meetings and organizing events that bring together banking and investment leaders from both countries to discuss available opportunities and identify potential areas for future cooperation.
The visit forms part of the Association of Banks in Jordan’s efforts to develop the international relations of Jordan’s banking sector, strengthen the presence of national financial institutions in promising markets, and support inclusive economic development.
