
As part of the joint approach of the Association of Banks in Jordan and the Central Bank of Jordan to hold regular meetings with the banking sector to discuss and deliberate on key issues of concern, the Association convened today, Thursday, September 18, 2025, a specialized dialogue session to discuss the decision issued by the Governor of the Central Bank of Jordan No. 831/2025 dated August 4, 2025, regarding data processing by entities subject to the supervision and oversight of the Central Bank of Jordan. The decision was issued pursuant to the provisions of Article (6/a/6) of the Personal Data Protection Law No. (24) of 2023.
The session included a presentation of the provisions of the decision issued by the Central Bank of Jordan, in addition to addressing inquiries and questions raised by representatives of banks, in order to ensure proper implementation of the decision and other related legislations concerning personal data protection.
The meeting was attended by directors of legal and compliance departments from member banks, as well as directors from the Central Bank of Jordan, including the Banking Supervision Department, the Legal Department, and the Supervision Department of Financing Companies and Credit Information Companies. Representatives from the Personal Data Protection Unit at the Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship were also present.
Participants stressed the importance of such meetings in unifying understanding and procedures, and in strengthening compliance with legislations related to data protection. They emphasized that this will positively contribute to developing banking practices and safeguarding the rights of clients and all relevant stakeholders.
